Mother of boy who fell at basketball game, sues school over alleged injuries

GRETNA – The mother of a boy who fell at a basketball game is suing the school where the incident occurred over his alleged injuries.

Donna Pace, individually and on behalf of her minor son, filed suit against St. Christopher Roman Catholic Church, Metairie, Louisiana and The Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 13.

Pace alleges that her son was attending a basketball game at the St. Christopher school located at 3900 Derbigny St. in Metairie when he slipped on the basketball court. The plaintiff contends her son sustained severe personal injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the premises, allowing a defect to exist which resulted in injury, failing to properly repair the premises and disregard for the safety and well being of the plaintiff’s son.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, embarrassment, humiliation, medical expenses and loss of opportunity to participate in school event and athletic activities.

Pace is represented by Anthony J. Livaccari Jr. of Livaccari Villarrubia Lemmon LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
