NEW ORLEANS – A man is suing the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel alleging that its negligence contributed to him sustaining serious injury.

Frank M. Sanders filed suit against Astor Crowne Plaza LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Feb. 12.

The plaintiff asserts that he was registered as a guest at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel located in downtown New Orleans at 739 Canal St. He claims that on Feb. 21, 2014, he was attempting to exit the bathroom of his hotel room, when suddenly and without warning a loose carpet located adjacent to the door resulted in him suffering a serious fall. He claims that this fall resulted injuries to his pelvis, hip, and torso as a whole--subsequently resulting in multiple surgeries and permanent disability.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of the dangerous condition of the loose carpet, failing to adequately inspect the floor of the guestroom and failing to prevent the existence of a hazard on the guestroom floor.

The plaintiff seeks an unspecified amount in damages for medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff is represented by Scott W. McQuaig of Metairie-based McQuaig & Associates LLC.

This case has been assigned to Divison E Judge Claire Jupiter.

Case no. 2015-01343.
