The buyer of a Cyclone recreational vehicle has sued its makers and dealer for alleged improper handling of the warranty guarantees.

Andy Cotton filed a lawsuit Feb. 16 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Heartland Recreations Vehicles, Dixie Motors and Bank of the West.

According to the complaint, the defendants were negligent in that they provided Cotton with a recreation vehicle that had numerous problems and failed on several occasions to fix problems covered by the warranty.

The suit says after Cotton purchased the vehicle for more than $98,000 the following problems were discovered: refrigerator leaks with water in the unit causing floor damage; awning defects that Dixie had to change four times; slide-out defects; no ladder for the bunk beds; bar stools that don't match; damage to the air conditioning; and driver-side camper damage.

The lawsuit says the camper was out of service for 141 days.
