GRETNA – A couple who own several properties they claim were damaged in a hailstorm are suing their property insurer for not properly covering their damages.

Rachel Dubois and Adrien Dubois filed suit against Southern Fidelity Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 24.

The Dubois assert they had homeowner policies on five properties located in Marrero, provided by Southern Fidelity Insurance Company when a hailstorm struck the area on Feb. 24, 2013. The plaintiffs claim the storm caused significant damage to the roof, windows, wall and overall structures of their properties. The couple allege they hired a professional to assess the damage to their property and forwarded the information to Southern Fidelity Insurance Company who they claim failed to properly inspect their properties for damages or provide any payment on the insurance policies.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs are represented by Jim S. Hall of Metairie-based Jim S. Hall & Associates.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

Case no. 747-046.
