GRETNA – A personal loan company is suing a client it claims has refused to make payments on a small loan provided last year.

Springleaf Financial Services of Louisiana Inc. filed suit against Roosevelt Brown Jr. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 9.

Springleaf contends Brown entered into a contract with them on July 20, 2014 to borrow $1,380, which was to be repaid over a 24 month period in monthly installments. The plaintiff asserts that the defendant failed to make payments on the loan beginning on Sept. 20, 2014 and has refused to do so since.

Springleaf claims Brown still owes $1,605.16 that is accruing interest at a rate of 35.97 percent.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $1,605.16 is sought by the plaintiff.

Springleaf is represented by Tony Dooley of New Orleans-based The Tony Dooley Law Office LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.

Case no. 746-555.
