Grocery store sued by woman claiming disabling injuries after store employees collides with her

GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a woman who claims she received disabling injuries when a store employee allegedly walked into to her causing her to fall to the ground.

June B. Wiley filed suit against Dorignac’s Food Center LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 24.

Wiley alleges that on April 21, 2014 she was grocery shopping at Dorignac’s Food Center LLC located at 710 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie. The plaintiff contends she reached into a cooler and was turning to walk away when a store employee walking at a high rate of speed collided with her causing her to fall to the floor. Wiley asserts she received serious and disabling injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

Damages in excess of $50,000 are sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, scaring, disfigurement, disability and impairment of ability to enjoy life’s pleasures.

Wiley is represented by Scott E. Silbert of New Orleans-based Silbert, Garon, Pitre & Friedman.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
