Financial service company sues over unpaid loan

GRETNA – A man is being sued by a financial services company for allegedly failing to repay a personal loan.

Springleaf Financial Services of Louisiana Inc. filed suit against Christopher M. Gai Jr. in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 8.

Springleaf asserts it entered into a contract with Gai on July 18, 2014 to provide him with a personal loan in the amount of $2,719.19 with an interest rate of 18 percent. The plaintiff claims the defendant was to repay the loan over a 36 month period with payments of $99.27 per month. However, Springleaf alleges Gai only ever made three payments on the loan and has been delinquent ever since January 2015. The plaintiff contends they reached out to the defendant in an attempt to be repaid, but never heard anything back from him.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages ion the amount of $2,426.58 are sought by the plaintiff.

Springleaf is represented by Tony Dooley of the New Orleans-based Dooley Law Office.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.

Case no. 748-463.
