Contractors renovating City of New Orleans boat house sued for allegedly damaging adjacent property

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man claims that contractors hired by the city to repair a boat house adjacent to his property caused damages to his property in the course of their work.

A. Fernandez filed suit against Courseault Commercial Inc., Couvillion Group LLC and Vogt Construction Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court on May 4, 2015.

Fernandez claims that the defendants were hired as general contractors for the City of New Orleans in addition to other companies and told to demolish and replace boat house 93 located adjacent to the plaintiff's property. The plaintiff states that they engaged in debris removal, pile removal and pile driving operations which caused structural damage to the plaintiff's property and resulted in his side of the wall being littered with debris.

Fernandez seeks an unspecified amount in damages property damage as well as depletion of the sight and servitude of his view as caused by the structural parts littering his property.

The plaintiff is represented by Harold S. Bartholomew of Metairie-based Bartholomew Law Offices.

This case has been assigned to Div. F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
