Subcontractor seeks $8K for cabinet and countertop installation

GRETNA – A subcontractor is suing the owner of a home and the contractor on a construction job who allegedly did not pay for a cabinet and countertop installation.

Home Décor Kitchen & Company Inc. filed suit against Infinity Construction Resource Inc., Ruben Gutierrez, Belford Constriction Inc. and Incarnatio Consecratio Missio in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 21.

Home Décor Kitchen & Company Inc. asserts it entered into a contract with the defendants to install cabinets and countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms located at 2305 Choctaw Drive in Baton Rouge. The plaintiff claims it competed the job in a proper manner, but was never paid.

Home Décor Kitchen & Company Inc. alleges the owner of the home, Missio, failed to pay the main contractors, Belford, which in turn failed to pay subcontractor Infinity Construction Resource Inc. which should have paid the plaintiff for the job.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $7,218.39 plus $1,082.76 in legal penalties in interest in addition to attorney’s fees is sought by the plaintiff.
