SHREVEPORT -- A subcontractor for a new military training facility is suing to recover the money it believes it's due for work it did on the project.

The United States of America for the Use of Fire Tech Systems Inc. filed an original complaint on June 23 in the U.S. District of Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division, against Pacific Tech-Sauer Inc., the Hartford Casualty Insurance Co. and the Federal Insurance Co.

PTS was selected as the general contractor by the Department of the Navy's Naval Facilities Engineering Command South East for the construction of the Barksdale Air Force Weapons Load Training Facility, according to the lawsuit.

The contractor received surety bonds through the other two defendants and Fire Tech performed as subcontractor, for which it believes it's still owed $102,883.60.

"PTS has been paid all sums to which it is entitled by NAVFAC," according to the suit. "However, it has refused to pay Fire Tech the outstanding balance due under the subcontract."

The plaintiff, citing breach of contract and a Miller Act claim, seeks the amount due, plus attorneys' fees, court costs, damages and interest.

The plaintiff is represented by Michael D. Lowe and William H. Priestley Jr. of Kean, Miller LLP in Shreveport.

U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division, case number 5:15-cv-01945-EEF-MLH.
