Kmart sued after man allegedly suffers deep cut to arm in accident

GRETNA – A corporate retailer is being sued by a man who claims he cut his arm while walking in a store.

Angelo Deleo filed suit against Kmart Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 2.

Deleo claims she was at the Kmart located at 2701 Belle Chasse in Gretna when he was walking down an aisle and caught his arm on a clamp connected to a fire extinguisher. The plaintiff alleges the incident resulted in a cut down his arm and wrist that have required medical treatment.

The defendant is accused of failing to secure the clamp, failing to ensure the hazard did not extend into the aisle, failing to warn of the hazard and failing to properly supervise employees.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering and medical expenses.

Deleo is represented by William B. Hidalgo of Covington-based Hidalgo & Associates LLP.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
