GRETNA – A dog owner and her insurer are being sued by a woman who claims she received disabling injuries during an alleged attack.
Shane Burns filed suit against Federal Insurance Company and Chubb and Rosemary Ber in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 18.
Burns asserts that on July 6, 2014 she was violently attacked by a dog owned by Ber. The plaintiff claims she suffered severe and disabling injuries in the incident. Burns alleges the premises where the attack occurred were covered by an insurance policy provided by Federal Insurance Company.
The defendant is accused of failing to warn of the dog, failing to exercise reasonable care and failing to provide a safe premises.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent disability, loss of consortium, penalties and attorney’s fees.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
