Elevator maintenance company sued over woman’s alleged injuries after malfunction

GRETNA – A state employee who was allegedly injured when an elevator malfunctioned at her work is suing the company responsible for maintaining the elevator.

Dianne C. Dunn filed suit against American Crescent Elevator Corporation and Mesa Underwriters Specialty Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 14.

Dunn alleges that on July 6, 2014 she was at her place of work as an employee of the State of Louisiana at Harvey State Office Building located at 2150 Westbank Expressway in Harvey. The plaintiff contends on that day she was in an elevator maintained by the American Crescent Elevator Corporation when it malfunctioned. Dunn asserts she received severe injuries in the incident to her back, back, head and knees.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the elevator.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, distress, disability, lost wages, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.

Dunn is represented by attorney Leonard J. Cline of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
