A Mobile, Alabama man is suing his employer after he sustained injuries while working on a tugboat.

Shepherd Togarepi filed a lawsuit against Resolve Marine Group LLC, Resolve Pioneer LLC, Resolve Salvage Inc., Resolve Towing and Salvage Inc. and Resolve Marine Services Inc., Resolve Operating Services and Resolve Ocean Towing on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana citing negligence and unseaworthiness on the part of the owners of a tug boat and barge. He is also demanding a jury trial.

Togarepi claims that he suffered injuries on or about Oct. 24, 2012, while working on the tug boat Resolve Pioneer. While in the process of transferring from the tug boat to an equipment/material barge he slipped and fell, claiming he suffered permanent and disabling injuries to his right knee and body in general, requiring multiple surgeries, the complaint states.

He is seeking recover expenses incurred while treating his injuries, reasonable attorneys’ fees and well as punitive damages from his employers for their alleged willful and wanton failure to pay for his maintenance and care.

Togarepi is represented by Houston, Texas-based attorney Steve Gordon of Gordon, Elias & Seely, LLP.
