A disabled man from Orleans Parish is suing New Orleans, alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Mitchell Miraglia filed a lawsuit on Oct. 23 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana against the city of New Orleans, alleging a New Orleans shopping complex is partially inaccessible to people with disabilities.

According to the complaint, Miraglia requires a wheelchair for mobility and upon visiting a certain shopping complex in New Orleans, leased by the city, he had trouble visiting certain shops due to lack of or inaccessible ramps at many locations.

The suit says the plaintiff visited the property many times and his most recent visit was Sept. 19.

Miraglia seeks modifications to the property, monetary damages, all costs of suit and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. He is represented by attorneys Andrew D. Bizer, Garret S. DeReus and Amanda K. Klevorn of The Bizer Law Firm in New Orleans.

U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana case number 2:15-cv-05416-KDE-MBN.
