NEW ORLEANS – A Louisiana inmate assigned to hard labor on work release is suing his employers over injuries sustained from a fall while sandblasting.

Anthony Dunn, an inmate assigned to hard labor at the LaFourche Parish Work Release Center, filed suit Oct. 30 against Eagle Industrial Equipment Inc., Bollinger Shipyard and Butch King, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 18, 2014, Dunn fell 20 feet from a metal walkway while sandblasting, injuring his back, legs and neck. The plaintiff alleges his work crew was ill-trained and understaffed, the walkway was not firmly attached to the rig, and that the work area he was in was dangerous and restricted.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for his injuries, plus attorney fees and costs of litigation. He is represented by Donna U. Gronder of Gronder & Associates and Denise A. Vinet of Vinet & Day, both of Baton Rouge.

U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana case number 2:15-CV-05594
