MONROE – Aramark Educational Services, the defendant in a personal injury lawsuit filed by a Lincoln Parish woman, is petitioning to remove the case from state court to the Western District federal court.

In the original case, Thomasina White filed a lawsuit Dec. 4, in the 3rd Judicial District Court for the Parish of Lincoln against Aramark Educational Services LLC, alleging personal injury and premises liability. Aramark’s petition to change the venue is based the plaintiff and defendant being citizens of different states.

According to White’s complaint, she suffered bodily injury to her right hip, leg and back while on the campus of Grambling University on Dec. 6, 2014, and seeks damages for past and future pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, inconvenience, medical and other expenses. The incident allegedly occurred when White attended a function at the Cash Street Café on campus, when she slipped and fell on a water-slick floor.

White seeks damages of more than $75,000, exclusive of interest and litigation costs. She is represented by Jonesboro attorney Chris L. Bowman. Aramark is represented by attorneys Maureen O. Sullivan and Christie Noel of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP in Lafayette. The petition to move the venue was filed Jan. 4.
