NEW ORLEANS – The owners of a charter vessel are seeking damages against a repair company for allegedly bad workmanship.
Strike Zone Charters LLC filed a lawsuit on Feb. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against A N S Engines LLC over what it claims was faulty workmanship and negligence on behalf of A N S.
The plaintiff asserts that A N S was hired to make repairs to one of its vessels, Strike Zone II, on or about July 5 to July 10, 2015. After the repairs were allegedly done, plaintiff restarted the vessel and the engine ran for several minutes before overheating and then suffering a total shut down. The plaintiff claims that due to the bad workmanship and negligence by defendant, it had to remove the engine and took it to be repaired a second time. This resulted in the vessel being inoperable for more than a month, according to the suit. Strike Zone Charters LLC attests that the work or services performed by defendant were inefficient, unsatisfactory, faulty and was a breach of contract and warranty. Due to the alleged actions of the defendant, Strike Zone Charters LLC has allegedly suffered economic loss.
It is now suing for all damages to which it believes it is entitled, plus attorney fees, the cost of suit, and any other rewards deemed proper by the court. It is represented by Robert S. Reich from Reich, Album, & Plunkett LLC in Metairie.
