NEW ORLEANS – A worker for United Fire & Safety is seeking damages after allegedly sustaining a work injury.

Lloyd Willis filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District Court of Louisiana on Feb. 16 against Woods Group PSN Inc., Energy XXI USA Inc. and JNET LLC, alleging negligence and failure of obligations.

Willis asserts that on or about June 14, 2015, while he was employed as a third party by United Fire & Safety to work on the JNET, which owned by Energy XXI and located in South Timbalier Block 26A in the Gulf of Mexico, he sustained an injury while being transferred from a platform to the vessel via a personnel basket attached to a crane. The basket allegedly struck the vessel with Willis inside.

Willis alleges that defendants acted in a negligent manner when it failed to observe safety measure, failed to exercise reasonable care, failed to provide proper tools and equipment and failed to provide a safe environment. Willis claims to have suffered a possible ruptured disk, nerve damage and injuries to his bones, muscle joints, and organs, trauma to his head, back, ribs, legs, feet and hands, and past and future medical expenses.

He is now suing for damages in an amount to be determined with interest, attorney's fees and cost of the suit, and all other rewards deemed just. He is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and David C. Whitmore from Scheuermann & Jones LLC in New Orleans.
