LAFAYETTE – A Louisiana man is suing his former employer for allegedly failing to pay overtime wages he was due.

Aaron Jackson filed a class-action lawsuit March 21 in U.S. District Court for the Lafayette Division of the Western District of Louisiana against Schlumberger Limited (Schlumberger N.V.), formerly known as Smith International Inc., alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Jackson and his co-workers served as field specialists working 12-hour days for seven days a week. For those 84-hour weeks, the suit says workers were paid a salary and job bonus, regardless of how many hours they worked. The suit claims he and the other workers were misclassified by the defendant to avoid paying overtime.

Jackson seeks a jury trial, recovery of all unpaid wages and other damages, reimbursement for litigation costs, and interest. He is represented by attorney Kenneth D. St. Pe of Kenneth D. St. Pe LLC in Lafayette.
