NEW ORLEANS – A crewman is suing the owners of the M/V Capt. Barry, alleging their negligence cause him to suffer injuries. 

Lloyd Collins filed a lawsuit March 23 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Linbar Marine Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 12, 2015, Collins was a Jones Act seaman aboard the M/V Capt. Barry, owned and operated by Linbar Marine. While working aboard the vessel, the suit says, Collins sustained serious injuries to his head, back, legs, and other parts of his body after an accident.

The lawsuit states Linbar Marine was negligent in failing to provide reasonable care, failing to provide a safe place to work, failing to properly train and supervise its workers, failing take precautions for the safety of its workers and failing to maintain a proper seaworthy vessel.

As a result of defendant’s negligence, the suit states, the plaintiff suffered loss of wages, mental and physical pain, disability and medical expenses.

Collins seeks a trial by jury,  damages along with interests, maintenance and cure benefits, and any other rewards allowable by law. He is represented by attorneys Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko, and Daniel J. Pooolson of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
