NEW ORLEANS – A man alleges he was injured while transferring onto another vessel.

Jarvis Bowie filed a complaint on April 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Cheramie Global Marine LLC citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 29, 2015, he was employed by Island Operating Co. when he attempted to transfer onto a vessel owned, operated and controlled by the defendant. The suit states that during the transfer he suffered serious injuries to his neck, back and other parts of his body. The plaintiff holds Cheramie Global Marine LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe means of transfer, failed to properly train and supervise its captain, failed to take any means or precautions for his safety and failed to provide adequate equipment and personnel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for damages; physical, mental and emotional pain and suffering; loss of wages; fringe benefits and wage earning capacity; medical expenses; all costs, including expert fees; and for all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko and Daniel J. Poolson Jr. of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
