Employee files suit against ENSCO Offsource Co. alleging injuries

Oilrig 03

NEW ORLEANS – A MODU ENSCO 8506 crew member is suing his employer over allegations its negligence caused him injuries.

Sonny Milton Hurst filed a complaint on April 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against ENSCO Offshore Co. alleging that the vessel operator failed to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while he was in the course of his employment on April 30, 2015, he was injured after he fell while climbing upon a BOP located on the moon pool deck of the vessel. The suit states the accident caused him to sustain serious, painful, permanent and disabling injuries. The plaintiff holds ENSCO Offshore Company responsible because the defendant allegedly caused the accident due to unseaworthiness of its vessel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in its favor in the total amount of $2,500,000, costs of this action, plus interest and any other relief which may be available under the circumstances. He is represented by Scott E. Silbert of Silbert Garon, Pitre & Friedman in New Orleans.
