Woman alleges she was injured in fall at Ochsner Medical Center

GRETNA – A St. John the Baptist Parish woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she allegedly slipped and fell on a wet portion of ground.

Joyce Reese filed a suit against Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner LLC and ABC Insurance Co., an unknown entity, in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 25.

According to the claim, Reese was visiting a patient at the Ochsner Medical Center on July 2, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused injury when she encountered a puddle of water from a leaking air-conditioning unit, which caused her to slip and fall. The incident allegedly caused the plaintiff lumbar and cervical sprain, in addition to full disability.

The defendant is accused of negligence and lack of skill in failure to inspect its premises properly, failing to train its personnel, failure to mark the floor with proper warning signage and failure to exercise due care.

The plaintiff is seeking court costs and general and equitable relief. She is represented by Tomy J. Acosta and Fred R. DeFrancescii of LaPlace. The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
