LAKE CHARLES – A man alleges he was injured in a Lake Charles casino restroom.

Andrew K. Matthies filed a complaint on May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lake Charles Division against Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. and The Service Cos. Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 5, 2015, he was a guest patron of the L’Auberge Du Lac Casino Resort, owned and operated by defendant Pinnacle. While walking into one of the casino’s men’s restrooms, he alleges he slipped on the wet floor, fell backward directly, and struck his head on the foot of a stall, causing him to suffer personal injury. The plaintiff holds Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. and The Service Cos. Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to ensure that their premises were free of hazards and failed to warn that the restroom floor was wet and presented a slip and fall hazard.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages reasonable under these premises and exceeding the sum or value of $75,000, plus interest and costs and such other and further relief as the interests of justice may require. He is represented by Richard M. Martin Jr. and Frank E. Lamothe III of Lamothe Law Firm in New Orleans.
