Car accident 23

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish mother is seeking damages after she alleges her daughter was injured in an auto accident.

Verlerria Jones, on behalf of the minor child, Justice Jones, filed a suit against National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, First Student Inc. and Robert Antoine in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 3.

According to the claim, Justice Jones was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Robert Antoine when the incident occurred on Nov. 2, 2015. While driving the car eastbound on U.S. 90B in Jefferson Parish, the suit states that Antoine failed to yield at the intersection of 90B and Bayou Signette, causing him to enter into another vehicle's lane and collide with said vehicle. Antoine was an employee of First Student Inc. at the time of the accident, the suit states. Justice Jones allegedly suffered neck and back injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to control the vehicle, failing to avoid the collision by keeping an adequate surveillance of the road and failing to yield the right-of-way.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Darry M. Breaux of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
