Man claims he tripped and was injured on a pallet at Home Depot

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is seeking damages after he was allegedly caused injury while inside a Home Depot.

Juan Meza filed a suit against Home Depot USA Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 3.

According to the claim, Meza was a customer of Home Depot at 2625 Veterans Blvd. in Kenner on May 18, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while walking down an aisle, Meza's foot caught on a pallet, and he was caused injury.

The defendant is accused of negligence through its failure to maintain a safe environment, failure to warn of the dangerous condition, failure to train employees properly, allowing a dangerous situation to exist without remedying it and failure to align with proper safety protocol.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Timothy R. Richardson of Usry Weeks & Matthews in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
