Portfolio Recovery Associates, Experian Information Solutions accused of false reporting

BATON ROUGE – A consumer alleges that a consumer reporting agency and debt collector reported false information on her credit report.

Tracy Bouma filed a complaint on May 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Portfolio Recovery Associates and Experian Information Solutions Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she disputed information regarding her credit account with a dispute letter dated Feb. 19. The inaccurate information on her credit report is continuing to damage her credit rating, the suit states. As a result, she alleges she has suffered great physical, emotional and mental pain and anguish. The plaintiff holds Portfolio Recovery Associates and Experian Information Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to follow reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy and has been reporting false and/or inaccurate information despite knowing it to be incorrect.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for actual damages, punitive damages, costs of this action, attorney’s fees and such other and further relief as may be necessary, just and proper. She is represented by Jonathan Raburn of The Raburn Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge.
