Man alleges exposure to radioactive materials in pipes caused injury

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man claims that his work environment exposed him to dangerous radioactive materials.

Bruce Mansion filed a suit against Chevron USA Inc., ConocoPhillips Co., Shell Oil Co., Shell Offshore Inc., Swepi LP, Devon Energy Production Co. LP, Marathon Oil Co., Atlantic Richfield Co., Oxy USA Inc., OFS Inc., Packard Pipe Terminals LLC and IntraCoastal Tubular Services Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 26.

According to the claim, Mansion worked for Plastic Applicators as a crewman, pipe inspector, pipe cleaner at a number of locations throughout Louisiana in the 1970s. The suit states he was also employed in a similar role from 1980 to 1985. While employed in his role as a crewman and pipe cleaner, Mansion was allegedly exposed to radioactive materials due to the dust that he inhaled on various jobs. The exposure that Mansion experienced has purportedly caused lung disease.

The defendants are accused of negligence through their failure to warn the plaintiff of the dangerous situation, failure to test their pipes for radioactive material, failure to dispose of dangerous waste properly and general carelessness

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Jarrett Falcon, Jeremiah A. Sprague and Timothy J. Falcon of Falcon Law Firm in Marrero. The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
