Orleans Parish woman alleges she was injured in slip and fall at hospital

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish woman is seeking damages, claiming that she was caused injury due to the negligence of a hospital.

Yolanda Smith filed a suit against Jefferson Parish Hospital Services District No. 2, Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana, doing business as East Jefferson General Hospital in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 17.

According to the claim, Smith was visiting a friend at the East Jefferson General Hospital on May 13, 2015 when the incident occurred. The suit states that while walking down a hallway, Smith encountered a puddle of liquid on the ground, which caused her to slip and fall, allegedly injuring her head, back, neck and spine.

The defendant is accused of negligence through the hazardous condition of the hallway, failure to warn the guests of the dangerous condition and failure to clean up the facilities.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Mark W. Smith.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
