Jefferson Parish man alleges he was injured in fall at Dollar General

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is seeking damages following an incident in which he claims that he was caused to slip and fall while at a Dollar General.

Edward McFarland filed a suit against Dollar General Corp. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 16.

According to the claim, McFarland was an invitee at the Dollar General at 7505 Airline Drive in Metairie on Sept. 10, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while McFarland was walking into the store, he was caused to slip and fall on the wet floor that had been left following a rainy day, causing injury.

The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to treat the wet portion of ground or prevent the collection of water at the entrance, failure to place a warning sign and other general negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Robert J. Caluda of the Caluda Law Firm in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
