GRETNA – A St. Tammany Parish couple is seeking damages claiming that a defective gasoline hose caused personal injury.

Robert L. Couret Sr. and Roselyn Couret filed a suit against State One Inc. No. 2 and State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 13.

According to the claim, Robert L. Couret Sr. was in the Discount Zone Service Station on Dec. 26, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was fueling his car when he realized that the black hose for the gasoline was defective. Allegedly, due to the defect of the hose, gasoline was caused to be sprayed over the plaintiff's body, eyes, face and clothes. While attempting to escape from the gasoline, Couret purportedly slipped and fell, causing injuries to his eyes and knee.

The defendant is accused of failure to repair the hose, failure to warn customers of the danger and failure to shut down the gas hose while it was defective.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by John C. Bono and Michael P. Bono of Bono Law Firm in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
