GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that her home was infested with termites, despite inspections from a termite service.

Diane Plaisance filed a suit against House Call Home Inspections LLC and XYZ Insurance in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 11.

According to the claim, a homeowner sought the services of the defendant for an inspection of the Marrero home in 2010 for termites. Following the sale of the house, the new owner, Plaisance, paid the fees required to have the defendant continue to inspect the home for termites. The suit states that between the years of 2011 and 2014, the defendant reported no termites in the house. The suit further states that in June 2014, the plaintiff discovered termites in her home, and despite treatment from the defendant at that point, the infestation had exacerbated. In the course of events, the home was severely damaged, the suit states.

The defendant is accused of negligence and inattentiveness in relation to the termite treatments.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Theresa M. Piglia of Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
