LAFAYETTE – A woman alleges she fell and was injured in a New Iberia grocery store.
Nancy Francis filed a complaint on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against Brookshire Grocery Co., doing business as Super I Foods, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 6, 2015, while she was on the premises of the defendant's store she slipped and fell on a wet, slippery floor, resulting in injuries to her lumbar spine, right shoulder, right arm and other component parts of her body.
The plaintiff holds Brookshire Grocery Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly created a dangerous condition, failed to inspect its premises and discover a dangerous condition in a timely manner, failed to warn of the dangerous condition and failed to properly mark the wet and slippery floor with safety cones.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in a reasonable compensatory sum plus legal interest and all costs of these proceedings and for all general and equitable relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and Stephen Armbruster of Scheuermann & Jones LLC in New Orleans.
