LAFAYETTE – An HVAC technician alleges he was injured when a hand rail gave way.
Jeffrey Louviere filed a complaint on May 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette-Opelousas Division against
W&T Offshore Inc. and Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 8, 2015, he was working in the course and scope of his employment for LQT Industries on Ship Shoal 349-A, a fixed platform. He alleges that while he was attempting to descend the stairs of a heliport when without warning, the hand rail collapsed causing him to fall down the stairs, resulting in injuries and damages.
The plaintiff holds W&T Offshore Inc. and Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly secure the hand rail, failed to provide adequate work procedures and/or planning and created and permitted the existence of an unreasonably dangerous condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor and against defendants in an amount reasonable in the premises, together with legal interest from date of judicial demand, for all costs of these proceedings and for all other such general and equitable relief as the court may deem proper. He is represented by Nicholas A. Blanda of Anderson Dozier Blanda & Saltzman in Lafayette.
