GRETNA – Two individuals are seeking damages, claiming corporate-induced theft left them damaged financially.

William Barron and Brenda Lalisan, individually and as New Orleans Motion Picture Studios Inc. as a corporation, filed a suit against Thomas Edward Conrad and Grace Conrad Hammons and Nomps Properties LLC and Does 1-100 in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 20.

According to the claim, Barron opened a performance checking account with Chase Bank on Nov. 23, 2015, at which time he used his own money to open the account. The suit states that the account was for business and that the defendants, Conrad and Hammons, agreed to deposit $250,000 into the account as well. The suit further states that the defendants provided the bank with a false tax identification number and then allegedly failed to make the agreed-upon deposits. According to the claim, the defendants began to misappropriate the funds and failed to provide documentation of spending when asked by the plaintiff.

The defendants are accused of deceit and corporate-induced theft, in relation to their alleged mismanagement of money.

The plaintiffs are seeking $500,000 in damages. They are representing themselves. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.
