Suit filed against Piggly Wiggly over injury claims from shopper

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages claiming that she was caused to slip and fall on a wet floor at Piggly Wiggly.

Susan Mitchell filed a suit against P.A.F. Inc., doing business as Piggly Wiggly, and Burlington Insurance Co., in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 23.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a patron at the Piggly Wiggly at 909 Westbank Expressway in Westwego on July 17, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while in the store, the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall on a wet portion of ground. The fall allegedly caused the plaintiff injuries.

The defendant is accused of gross negligence through failure to properly inspect the premises of the store and prevent dangerous situations such as wet floor, failure to warn customers of the dangers present and allowing the dangerous condition to exist.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Pierre F. Gaudin of Gretna. The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
