Woman alleges injuries at Avondale Palms Casino

GRETNA – A Louisiana woman claims that she was injured when she slipped and fell on a steel plate.

Janetta Sanxton filed a suit against Avondale Truck Stop LLC, doing business as Avondale Palms Casino, and Atain Specialty Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 23.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a patron at the Avondale Palms Casino at 3110 Highway 90 W. in Avondale when the incident occurred on Aug. 17, 2015. The suit states that due to a portion of ground that was covered by a slippery steel plate, Mitchell was caused to slip and fall in the parking lot, purportedly resulting in injuries.

The defendants are accused of gross negligence through failure to inspect and maintain the premises in a safe condition, failure to warn customers of the existing dangers and failure to maintain a safe environment for customers.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Pierre F. Gaudin of Gretna. The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel
