Suit filed against Selser Property over allegedly open sewer hole that caused injuries

GRETNA – A man alleges he fell into an open sewer hole while walking his dog.

Christopher Melito filed a suit against Selser Property LLC and Mesa Underwriter Specialty Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 25.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was walking his dog on May 20, 2015, through a parking lot owned by Selser on 225 Lake Ave. when he was allegedly caused to fall after stepping into an open sewer hole.

The defendants are accused of omission and commission through the failure to provide a safe environment for others, failure to warn customers of the unsafe condition of the parking lot and failing to otherwise remedy the dangerous situation.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Harold L. Ehrenberg of Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
