LAFAYETTE – A Vermillion Parish man alleges he was injured by an elevator.

Raymond Bourque Jr. filed a complaint on May 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against Ram Manufacturing LTD alleging that the lift manufacturer violated the Louisiana Products Liability Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 9 while he was a passenger in the Trus T Lift elevator at his home, it suddenly and without warning stopped operating and fell 8 feet downward, causing him severe injuries and damages to the mind and body, including fractures of his left ankle and right leg, trauma to his low back, and trauma to his knees and other body parts.

The plaintiff holds Ram Manufacturing LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly designed and manufactured the Trus T Lift in an unreasonably dangerous condition, deviated in material specifications and performance standards and failed to provide adequate warnings.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor and against defendant to compensate him for all damages resulting from the incident, together with prejudgment interest, all costs of these proceedings and for all other general and equitable relief allowed by law. He is represented by William Gee of William Gee LTD in Lafayette.
