NEW ORLEANS – A man claims he suffered brain injuries as a result of taking Xarelto.

Christopher Jill filed a complaint on June 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Janssen Research & Development LLC, Janssen Ortho LLC, Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., Johnson & Johnson Co., Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Inc., et al., alleging that they violated the unfair trade practices and consumer protection law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he ingested Xarelto and suffered a cerebrovascular accident/ hemorrhagic brain mass that resulted in his hospitalization in Aug. 13, 2015. As a direct and proximate result, he has suffered damages and harm, including, but not limited to, personal injury, medical expenses and other economic harm.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly designed, researched, manufactured, tested, advertised, promoted, marketed, distributed and sold Xarelto; failed to properly investigate, research, study and define the safety of the drug's profile; failed to adequately test it or provide adequate warnings; failed to disclose the need for dose adjustments; and failed to provide adequate instructions on the drug's use.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs and for such other and further relief as this court deems just and proper. He is represented by Jeffrey D. Meyer of The Meyer Law Firm PC in Houston, Texas.
