GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that a Walmart employee caused her injury with a component of a refrigerated food case.

Latoya M. Traylor filed a suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and John Doe, also known as Najee, in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer in the Walmart located on Jefferson Highway on May 27, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while in the refrigerated milk section of the store, the defendant, who was stocking the fridge, caused a white rod from the refrigerated case to become loose. The plaintiff was allegedly caused physical harm by the rod striking her temple.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to keep the premises in a safe condition for guests, placing customers in a dangerous situation and overall failure to operate in a safe manner.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Allan Berger and Andrew Geiger of Allan Berger & Associates in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
