Man alleges door injured hand

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man claims that he was injured when a metal door closed on his hand.

Robert McPhail filed a suit against U-Haul Co. of Louisiana, doing business as U-Haul Center Oakwood, and Repwest Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 31.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest of the defendant on June 1, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while the plaintiff was using the loading elevator, the plaintiff's hand was crushed between two metal doors.

The defendants are accused of negligence, failure to provide a safe environment for customers, failure to warn customers of dangers, failure to inspect and maintain the premises in a safe manner.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Harold L. Ehrenberg of Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.
