Fitness service manager accuses Gold’s of sexual harassment

Wrongful term 07

NEW ORLEANS — A Belle Chase woman is suing a fitness business, alleging she was sexually harassed and wrongfully fired.

Danielle E. DiGiovanni-Fisher filed a lawsuit June 15 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Gold’s Holding Corp., alleging violation of the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law.

According to the complaint, two weeks after DiGiovanni-Fisher started work for Gold's in 2014, general manager Mark Soden began to sexually harass her and asked her intrusive questions about her spouse.

Her spouse, a member of the gym, was not allowed return to the gym after he had a verbal confrontation with Soden about the sexual harassment, the suit says. DiGiovanni-Fisher's employment was terminated Oct. 4, 2014, because of her husband’s altercation with Soden.

The plaintiff alleges Gold’s failed to take remedial actions to stop the harassment, and terminated her employment after she engaged in a protected activity.

Digiovanni-Frisher seeks compensatory damages. She is represented by attorney Christina L. Carroll of Robein, Urann, Spencer, Picard & Cangemi APLC in Metairie.
