Two corporations accuse South Carolina woman of breach of contract

Contract 07

SHREVEPORT — Two professional corporations are suing a South Carolina woman, alleging breach of a contingency fee contract.

Wiener, Weiss & Madison and Kantrow, Spaht, Weaver & Blitzer filed a lawsuit June 16 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Shreveport Division against Leslie B. Fox,  alleging breach of the second contingency fee agreement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs represented Fox's interests in two bankruptcy proceedings without receiving any compensation for their efforts and expenses. The plaintiffs allege Fox refused to arrange for the payment and/ or assignment to the firms of 40 percent of the cash and other property and refused to pay the costs and expenses incurred by the firms during the course of their representation.

The plaintiffs seek a trial by jury, monetary judgment against defendant for the value of the firms’ contingency fee, interest, costs and expenses incurred during the course of their representation, costs of these proceedings and all other relief deemed just. They are represented by attorneys Herschel E. Richard, Jr., John T. Kalmbach and David J. Hemken of Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway in Shreveport.
