GRETNA – Two individuals are seeking damages following an incident at a Walmart that allegedly resulted in a fall.

Jeflyn Mire, individually and on behalf of Joel Vaughan, filed a suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 6.

According to the claim, Vaughan was a customer at the Walmart store at 5110 Jefferson Highway in Harahan when the incident occurred on July 7, 2015. The suit states that while in the store, an employee's cart pulled up the corner of a floor mat, which caused Vaughan to trip and fall as she was following. The suit further states that the fall caused the plaintiff serious personal injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through its failure to maintain the store in a safe manner, failure to exercise due care, and failure to warn customers of the dangerous situation.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiffs are represented by Robert B. Evans III of the Evans Law Firm in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
