Wrongful death suit filed against doctor, Schumacher Group

GRETNA – Family members have filed a suit against medical care providers alleging wrongful death.

Mario Molina, individually and on behalf of his deceased wife Yolanda Boves Molina, Melinda Y. Molina and minor son, filed a suit against Dr. Michael Allen Freeto and the Schumacher Group in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 20.

According to the claim, Boves was a driver who suffered injuries in a car accident on May 24, 2014. The suit states that following the incident, the woman was admitted to the Ochsner Kenner Hospital and seen by Freeto. The suit additionally states that the doctor's EKG test yielded abnormal results, but that Freeto nonetheless discharged the woman from the hospital. The patient allegedly suffered from a number of medical conditions, including obesity, hypertension and high blood pressure. About four months later, the patient was allegedly caused to die from acute myocardial infarction, which included a blocked coronary artery by 99 percent.

The defendants are accused of breach of the applicable standard of care and wrongful death.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Michael J. Daly Jr. of Walker Daly LLP in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
