Barge operator alleges contractor owes $275,000

NEW ORLEANS — A Houma barge operator is suing a Belle Chasse contractor, alleging the defendant owes more than $275,000. 

J.R. Gray Inc. filed a lawsuit July 25 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Rene Cross Construction Inc., alleging breach the of Bareboat Charter Agreements.

According to the complaint, since Nov. 31, 2014, J.R. Gray  has not receive payments on any of the 28 invoices in the total amount of $275,773.05. The suit says the plaintiff has suffered damages, including the payments owed by defendant, plus interest, attorney fees, costs and penalties. The plaintiff alleges Rene Cross Construction, despite repeated demands, has failed to pay on any of the 28 outstanding invoices.

J.R. Gray Inc. seeks a trial by jury, judgment for $275,773.05, plus 18 percent interest per annum, attorney fees and court costs and all other relief to which it is entitled.
