Energy producer alleges Oklahoma corporation owes more than $1.3 million

SHREVEPORT — A Louisiana oil and gas producer is suing an Oklahoma company, alleging the plaintiff is owed more than $1.3 million for failure to comply with terms of an agreement to acquire leases.

Martin Producing LLC of Caddo Parish filed a lawsuit July 28 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Shreveport Division against Chesapeake Louisiana LP of Oklahoma City, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Martin Producing suffered monetary damages after not receiving payment for the principal amount due for the 61.125 net mineral acres of the Rice Lease, a total of $1,375,312.50. The plaintiff alleges the defendant has not paid Martin with legal interest from the date due.

Martin Producing seeks a trial by jury, judgment for the principal amount of $1,375,312.50, plus interest, all legal costs and all relief deemed proper. It is represented by attorneys David R. Taggart and David J. Topping of Bradley Murchison Kelly & Shea LLC in Shreveport.
