NEW ORLEANS — A Jefferson Parish woman is suing the United States, alleging an erroneous tax assessment.

Julie Unangst Quinn filed a lawsuit July 29 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against United States of America, alleging the government illegally assessed and collected an income tax return.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 18, 2015, Quinn filed a Form 1040X with the Internal Revenue Services, requesting a tax refund for the year ended Dec. 31, 2005 for $228,487. The plaintiff holds alleges the U.S. denied her claim for a tax refund.

Quinn seeks trial by jury, judgment for refunding her income tax paid, attorney fees, legal costs andall the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Kyle A. Spaulding and William A.Neilson, Sr. of Neilson-Spaulding LLC in New Orleans.
